CRADLE BOARD BABY DREAM CATCHER..................$45.00

I have created this "Cradle Board Baby" from a variety of
natural materials. It is 13" tall & approximately 7" wide
and can be hung on the wall (from the leather cord on the back),
or set on a shelf. The baby is fashioned from a small gourd and
is tucked into a deer hide robe. A rabbit fur ruff surrounds
the sleeping face & the baby wears a little necklace of bauxite
& glass beads.

The cradle frame is constructed from beaver chewed sticks
(which I collect while canoeing!). The sticks are lashed together
with sinew & have several coats of tung oil which brings out the
beautiful patterns created by the beaver's gnawing. A dream catcher
is woven across the top panel. It is woven from artificial sinew.
The bead work decorations are : turquoise, sea shell, shell, glass,
wood & jasper.

Cradle boards were a unique way Native Americans carried
their babies. Design & decorations varied among tribes.
Dream catchers are for catching bad dreams of sleeping children.
